Bachelor of Arts in
Pastoral Ministry

Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Ministry (120 Hours)

Paul writes to his son in the faith, Timothy, in 2 Timothy 2:15, “Be diligent to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth.” Paul understood this important concept: the world needs preachers. Not only does the world need preachers, but it needs men of God who can handle God’s Word correctly. Without the preaching of God’s Word, how will those far from God call on Him for salvation (Rom. 10:14)? The need is urgent and the challenge is mighty. Now, more than ever, a generation of preachers must be equipped to take up the challenge. Thankfully, our degree accomplishes this task.

The Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Ministry is designed to prepare and equip graduates to fulfill their calling as pastors within the context of the local church. As such, participation in this program will focus heavily on the areas of pastoral preaching, care, leadership, and counseling. Graduates of this program can enter the pastorate with confidence that they are competent to lead the church through the challenges of the 21st century.

The emphases in the program introduce degree candidates to the theology and methodology of pastoral ministry while progressing through topical studies in common ministry areas that culminate with understandings and applications of current literature, best practices, and guided opportunities in their personal development of preaching skills. Participation in the Pastoral Ministry program places unparalleled value on the unique qualification and inspiration of the Word of God, trusting in its sufficiency to meet the needs of those to whom it ministers. Students in this program will be required to complete 32 hours of Bible credit. Therefore, study in the Pastoral Ministry program stands in unique contrast to other degree programs with its heavy emphasis on the Bible. BA in Pastoral Ministry Advising Sheet
